This lovely, large maison de maitre is set in the Southern Vendée in a small village just north of Fontenay-le-Comte.
The Vendée, with its microclimate, is the second sunniest region of France, with temperatures reaching the high 30s in July and August.
The house is a charming maison de maitre, with a beautiful private garden covering two acres.
The closest restaurant, boulangerie and general store are within 2 km.
The surrounding region is of gently rolling countryside, beautiful lakes and the forested areas along with scatterings of picturesque villages, such as the medieval village of Vouvant (11km) recently voted one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Within close distance are lakeside beaches, a sailing school, fishing and horse riding. There are many golf courses in the surrounding area, the closest being Golf du Petit Chene, an 18 hole course at Mazieres-en-Gatine, just 20 miles away. Many of the nearby villages have their own summer fetes and market days, along with excellent restaurants.

On the ground floor, the sitting room has a large open working fireplace. There is a widescreen TV, video, and CD player. The dining room has a charming fireplace and a large elm dining table which seats up to 18.
The delightful kitchen has all the required appliances, including two ovens, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. There is a large farmhouse table suitable for 6 adults or children's meals.
The doors from both the sitting room and the kitchen lead onto the terrace which runs along the entire width of the house. In front of the terrace is a large flat grass area suitable for playing games; beyond that there is an orchard, and towards the bottom of the grounds is a fenced dried-up lake surrounded by rows of mature lime trees.
On the East side of the house (the kitchen side) is the fenced swimming pool area, which is situated conveniently very close to the house, and is the focal point of the holiday for guests, both during the day and in the evening.

The surrounding region is of gently rolling countryside, with beautiful lakes and forested areas. The medieval village of Vouvent, recently voted the most beautiful village in France, is 11 km away and is a must for dining out.
Only an hour’s drive from Poitiers (home of Futuroscope) and the impressive coastal towns of La Rochelle and Les Sables d’Olonne, the setting for this impressive property is perfect for a secluded holiday.
